About him
I like to keep fit and active, having been involved with athletics and sport all my life.
I am a very practical person and have done my own home extensions.
I enjoy the hills and took part in mountain marathons for several years. I take things more slowly now. I have trekked extensively in Nepal and visited the Potala in Tibet and stayed in a Mongolian Ger (yurt to some).
I travel worldwide, especially S.E. Asia, as often as possible. Life is like a book, if you don't travel, you only read one page.
I enjoy red wine, nice restaurants, 60s and country music. When living near London, I enjoyed the theatre and Royal Festival Hall concerts. I have enjoyed the ballet in Moscow, China and Uzbekistan.
Before my second trip to China, I took classes in Taichi and Mandarin to break through the glass wall between the people and me. Although a poor linguist, I have managed a smattering of Spanish.
I have driven my motorhome in the Saharah and regularly spend much of the winter in Iberia.
Learning about different cultures is very important to me, it enables one to evaluate ones own better. The main thing that I have learned is that people all over the world are basically the same.
Although I like dogs, I don't have a pet because I travel too much.
I believe that life is for living, with no regrets.
I aspire to be understanding and compassionate and to accept people as they are. Whilst not religious, I accept the basic tenets of Buddhism.
My mantra is:
"Treat other as you would wish to be treated, this is the law, everything else is commentary."
I have had a wonderful life, so far, but I am now ready for a fresh start, with no baggage. I look forward to doing so with an active, energetic, compassionate, loving woman accompanying me.
