About him
I am affectionate, loyal, honest and genuine, I don’t pretend to be someone I’m not. All my photos are recent except for one taken at Pompeii in 1975 when I was hitchhiking around Europe, I wish I still had all that hair!
I do all the usual stuff such as walking on the beach, although I’m often watching the waves while also keeping a lookout for interesting stones, I love live theatre and going to the cinema, art exhibitions, and I love Tate Modern and Tate Britain in London, any excuse really to go to London.
I’m really passionate about music, I love all sorts of music, everything from ABBA to Zeppelin via Mozart, Mussorgsky and Mendelssohn, and I love going to concerts or sitting at home listening to it and despite owning lots of albums I still buy CDs and vinyl because great music is still being released.
I sometimes listen to Radio 3 or 4, and I can’t imagine living without books, I have a ‘to be read’ pile that keeps on growing despite me reading them, perhaps if I stopped buying them it might help, although just like with music, that ain’t gonna happen.
I enjoy being creative with paint, acrylics usually. I like interesting conversations that go a little deeper than the usual small talk and I like exploring new possibilities. I love being in my garden, I love plants and looking after the wildlife and I enjoy going for a walk, being out in nature and appreciating the beauty that is all around us, if we just take the time to stop and look.
I eat out now and then and I try to eat healthy, I’m mostly vegetarian/pescatarian but I’m not preachy about it. I just think that animals deserve to have a life, like us humans.
I’m separated and waiting for my divorce to make its way through the legal system.
Life is such a precious and wonderful thing and we only get this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be here, so we should remember what’s gone before while also looking forward to what’s still to come.

Let’s face it, none of us know how many years we have left, and we’re here because we want to meet someone. As for me, I’d like to find someone who might go on to become a friend/partner/lover but I appreciate that a good and lasting relationship needs to be built on honesty, mutual trust and respect for each other and it should not be rushed.
I’d like to meet someone with whom I want to spend the next chapter of my life, who also wants to spend her time with me and hopefully we both get on well together although I’ve seen some people talking about ‘chemistry’ but my memory from school is that some chemical reactions are instant and some need more time to react and develop.
I'm looking for a relationship where we share affection and laughter, life is hard sometimes and so discovering what brings us joy and makes us happy is essential. I'm looking for a genuine partnership where we both encourage one another by being there for each other through the good times and the not so good times. And as time goes by we might decide that we want to have a much closer and longer lasting relationship.
Is this really too much to hope for?
My ideal match likes showing affection, having hugs and holding hands, but I wouldn’t want to be too specific because she will be her own truly unique self, living her own life. Maybe she might like to share some of her interests, because I’m happy to learn something new. Hopefully she has decided that now is the time is right for making new memories with someone like me.
