About him
I am a widower in my late seventies. Very fit and active, each day, I walk with with Bailey, the retired greyhound that saved me when I lost my wife of 50 year. I fix cars, climb mountains, do building and house restoration work, I listen to music and read. But it is walking in nature that keeps me sane. My daily walks take in the Cotswold hills where I live, but also the low mountains of central Burgundy where we have had a little house for more than thirty years. Often we will set off together for a big day in the hills, Bailey loves them. As I walk, I wonder at the beauty all around and think of the pleasure there might be in sharing it with someone special. I have a huge appetite for life, as well as music and the written word, I love good conversation and good food, now I want someone special to share it with. The time left is precious, there is so much I want to do, so many places to visit, but not on my own. I want to share again, enjoy precious moments together, know again the the joy and the warmth of shared contentment.
I disliked school, and school disliked me, so I left when I was sixteen to start life as an engineer. I did well as an apprentice and studied part time to get some qualifications. I eventually ended up with a master’s degree. Early on in our marriage, my wife was diagnosed with MS and I spent the last years of our marriage as her full time carer.
I am a very physical person, and long once more to feel the closeness and touch of the special someone who feels the same about me.

I am not looking for a wife or housekeeper. I can cook, those I cook for, say I am an exceptional cook and I do love preparing a special meal for a special person and I do just enough housework and cleaning to avoid living in squalor. I am looking for the person who needs what I can offer and finds pleasure in being with me. I have always enjoyed the company of attractive, intelligent women and it is something I desperately miss. I have female friends, but I need something more than an intellectual friendship or a walking companion, I need someone who wants me and needs me, both intellectually and physically. Yes, I enjoy intelligent conversation, but that has nothing to do with academic qualifications, just someone who is open to the world around them and has a desire to experience it and to share that experience.
